A Christmas Carol: The Musical!

It has been a while since I last updated this thing. To begin, I want to tell you about a play that I was in. I joined a drama group called "Eternal Reconcile". This Christmas we did A Christmas Carol Musical. A few of the members slightly modified the play and added a few songs. It was a bunch of fun!
Becoming a bum is dirty work!

It was fun becuase a few of my friends showed up for he performance!
The opening number, Sleigh Ride, the only kind of "dancing" on campus.

Opening scene and "bum" scene.

We sang, You're a Mean One, Mr. Scrooge (instead of Mr. Grinch).

And yes, I'm not in a costume here because we had to share.

Coming Up for Air

Oh! That accursed feeling that you are forever swimming underwater and can barely reach the surface!!! If you were to ask a Southern student how they are feeling right now, that might be the common answer. I am desperately trying to get above everything that I need to do this week:

1. Finals begin on Sunday. The one that is threatening to kill me is Tuesday.

2. I'm in a Christmas musical version of the Christmas Carol. It's a lot of fun but... it's this coming Saturday night and we're not selling as many tickets as needed and I really don't feel like we're prepared to preform. (DISCLAIMER: for anyone reading this who has bought or is thinking of buying a ticket, PLEASE COME! The one scene I'm in is amazing and you won't want to miss it! Ask anyone! They'll tell you that the "bum" scene is the best!) So we have a 2 hour practice every night this week.

3. Design class... Ugg.. This is the hardest one to create: Texture.

4. I have some back work to complete because I got sick last week...

5. And I need to get back to work so, I'll leave you with a picture that I took earlier tonight, before the rain started.

This is the main building, girl's parking lot and big Christmas tree that they put up. What a wonderful time of year!!! Ok, I'm going back under water now...

I'm Old-youngish... Umm...

It is amazing how one second, I can step into a room, look around and the girls there and feel incredibly old. But the next second I check my email and find that a very close friend is now engaged, and boy do I feel young. I'm only 20.

Goodness.

Don't get me wrong, I've very happy for Natalie and Ian!!!! Congratulations you guys! I really hope everything works out!!!
But when I try to picture myself in their place, I shudder.

I'm just a youngster...

November Update

The count down to Thanksgiving break is slowly coming to an end for most people on campus. I, however, have not been keeping up the the number of days left simple because I am not going home. I will be going with a group of friends to Charlotte, NC. Don't get me wrong- I'm excited to go! But, it's not home.

Alright. I noticed that it's been a while since I last updated this thing. I have been rather busy. On November 8, I had lunch with some girls at an apartment in the Southern Village. We made lunch and then baked cookies. To end a perfect Sabbath, we took pictures!

The next important thing that has happened is that my birthday was on the 13th! I am no longer a teenager! That seems quite strange to me...

My birthday fell on a Thursday, which meant that I only had one class which happened to be at 2:00pm. Now, this might sound wonderful, but I don't mind going to school on my birthday. More people pay attention to you. If you sit in your room all morning, then there won't be anyone to wish you happy birthday!

That evening, my friends took me down to Atlanta to the Cheesecake Factory! I was very excited because I had yet to experience one! Our waiter was great. He is the one to thank for the pictures:

Christine, Me, Rachel, Anne, Karalee and Rebbecca.

I received a good amount of cards from a number of people! It was really fun! I also received a bunch of emails, comments and messages on Myspace and Facebook!

Now, if you know me, you know that I have a problem of figuring out what presents are before I open them. And my parents tantalized me this year by shipping my present my present to my room, which meant that I knew where it was shipped from. As soon as I signed for and the desk worker brought the present out from under the desk, I was already taking mental note of the shape, size, weight and color of the package.

When we left the dorm to head down to Atlanta, I noticed that Christine had a small box with her and I thought to myself, "I wonder why she has that with her?" It totally did not register in my mind that it was my birthday and that it very well could have been a present. This didn't even cross my mind until she placed it in front of me at the restaurant. Inside, there was a beautiful bracelet that Christine made from antique beads!

I must say that I was surprised--in a very good way.

A Morning Walk

Last Thursday, Christine and I decided to get up early (meaning about 8 o'clock) and go for a walk through to varieties of color that currently surrounds us.

Our trip first took us passed the Wellness Center that has just been opened for use. I have yet to be in there but it looks very snazzy.

The colors are so amazing that I just had to share them with you!

We also went under this bright orange canopy. And, how could I leave without taking a few pictures of Christine?

Not bad for a brisk Thursday morning...
