February Flashback

It's about time.
I know.
I apologize for the delay:

2/11/09

What is more fun than successfully pulling off a surprise party? That has to be one of the greatest joys in life, a true high. When you pull something off that is totally unexpected and wonderful for someone else. The week of Ryan's birthday, we debated about doing something, I mean, Ryan's popular so he'd for sure have a party thrown for him. But that day, after making a few phone calls, I was able to get a good group of people to meet at Marble Slab for ice cream. Thanks to Karalee's idea and Danika's boldness, we were able to hide behind the counter when Theo brought Ryan in.

I am happy to report that Ryan was thoroughly surprised. And everyone had a good time. Even the guy who was working there who also watched the door and told us when to jump up and start singing.

2/21/09 BCU Night

Black Christian Union Club Night. The drama team that I choose to be a part of was the main entertainment for BCU Night. The play that we did was called "The Great Controversy: An Unseen Evil". Except for a few technical difficulties (and a whole lot of stressful cramming beforehand) it went very well. The story is about the battle between good and evil over a high school boy's choice to either use his voice for God's glory or for his own glory. I played the part of the ditzy class president. It was a lot of fun to do! Afterward, I had several people comment on the fact that they didn't know I had it in me or that they were shocked to see this new side of me! I also heard that someone made the comment: "When she first went on stage, I thought she was a good actor, but then I began to wonder if she's really that ditzy!"... Not quite sure how to take that one...

Anne was my personal hairstylist and Karalee was my very own make-up artist! I was sooo pampered!!! And my hair felt like a hardhat from all the hairspray...
It was also fun this time because Christine was the stage manager! She is amazing and really worked hard in a VERY short amount of time to get the props together!

2/22/09 The Academy Awards

Oh! The glitz and glamor of the Oscars. A group of us went over to one of the music teacher's house and had an Oscar party complete with Oreos and Martinelli's. I loved the changes that they made to the program this year, especially the opening number as well as the tribute to musicals:

3/5-3/8/09 End of Spring Break

Spring break was amazing, but I can honestly say that I don't think I got enough sleep! We had so much fun doing so many things that...

Wednesday night, it snowed. This meant skiing! We spent the afternoon at Alta, where the ski rentals were $8 and the lift was free!! Thankfully, Christine was perfectly fine with staying on the green runs (I know, I know! But it had been 4 years since I'd been on skis!! GASP!) It was really fun!! And beautiful!

Friday, we went to the Olympic Oval and watched the Speed Skating World Cup Finals! It was so cool to be sitting in the stands and be surrounded by people speaking different languages! And, of coarse, I LOVED seeing the Olympic Oval!

While we were there, Shani Davis (USA) set a new world record for the men's 1500 meter race at 1:41:81!!! It was so much fun to see!!!

Sabbath did bring rest and a chance for me to pull out my polarizing filter and play around:

Well, that wraps up February! A last few tidbits that are kinda cool:

For one, my identity package was put up on the journalism website! You can see it by clicking here. (There is already another project up but you can still see past projects. And I am sad to announce that I did not make it up this time... My friends are rolling their eyes at my disappointment.)

The second is that I took a picture of a girl so Rebecca could draw her portrait for Drawing II. Rebecca did an amazing job:

Well, I guess that wraps up February!
TTFN!
